ỊTỤ NZU
WHAT IS ỊTỤ NZU?
Nzu means a white natural segmented chalk that is excavated. Usually nzu is a type of white chalk which is usually dug out from humid area of a particular type of soil.
The Igbo people believe that one approaches God best if he uses an item to pray. Hence the saying Okenye jide ọjị n’aka kwacha akpịrị, ụmụ mmụọ egee ya ntị n’olu (If an elder holds a kola nut in his hand and clears his throat aloud, the spirits listen to Him). So they believe that there is something spiritual about the things with which one uses to pray to God one of which is nzu.

Man as a manifestation of God goes on to create where his creator stops. There is nothing wrong with imitation. But the imitator has to acknowledge his master. Humility is knowing one’s position and taking it.

Taken together, all his work is a good network. Taken singly, every aspect has some form of beauty to portray. The rainbow is a manifestation of the colourful aspect of God; The forest, trees, moors, hills mountains, valleys and the rest point to his dissociation and association with his creatures; the human mind, the intermingling of all living and moving things shows the mystery that is God.
