THE NEW YAM FESTIVAL.

THE NEW YAM FESTIVAL.
Every well meaning race has certain things which make them unique and different from others. It is defined that culture is the way a given group of people lives their own life in their own environment. As such, it can be said that culture is one of the desiderata that makes a people different from others. Igbo people are a group of people in Nigeria, who have their own language and culture. The culture of Igbo people is so rich that it cannot be quantified. The picture above shows a king in Igboland slicing a roasted tuber of yam during a NEW YAM FESTIVAL.
MMỌNWỤ ỊZAGA (AN ỊZAGA MASQUERADE)

Ịzaga masquerade is a kind of wonder masquerade in Eastern and Western Nigeria. That is among the Igbo and Yoruba tribes. This type of masquerade is the type that is made in such a way that the masquerade is suspended on a very short projection of a cut bamboo tree which can be as long as twenty feet. The wonder of the Ịzaga masquerade is that it hangs on the peak of the two poles of the bamboo stick that suspends it and dances in the festive arena without falling off. An African wonder eh?
